What is the Parish Nurse Program?

Parish nursing is a specialty practice and professional model of health ministry.  The spiritual dimension is central to parish nursing practice.  The practice holds that all persons are sacred and must be treated with respect and dignity.  Compelled by these beliefs the parish nurse serves, advocating with compassion, mercy and justice.

The parish nurse understands health (body-mind-spirit) to be a dynamic process.  Spiritual health is central to well being and influences a person's entire being.  A sense of well being can exist in the presence of disease, and healing can exist in absence of cure.

The mission of parish nursing is the intentional integration of the practice of faith with the practice of nursing to promote wholeness in, with, and through the community of faith.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church Prayer Chain

Emmanuel's prayer chain has become rather disorganized over recent years.
Due to this the Caring Connections Committee is in the process of getting it reactivated. We need volunteers to pray for special intentions of members of our congregation and friends. Each volunteer on the prayer chain will pray for the intentions as that person feels able.

Prayers will be requested on the back of our attendance sheets, by emailing or talking to Pat Becker on the church office 815-963-4815, Pastor Nord or one of the members of the committee. Prayer requests will be honored for one month or ongoing as requested. We will not ask for specific information for the prayers. We will be praying for that person's intention.

If when you give us your name to be a volunteer, you would also let us know if you would prefer to receive the information by email and your email address or if you would like to receive the information by phone and the phone number you want us to use.

A member of the Caring Connection will email the prayer requests and Normajeanne Osborn will be calling volunteers by phone.
