The goal of Children's Ministry is to build fellowship and community while learning about the teachings of Jesus.
The new Rotation Sunday School Program uses the Augsburg Firelight curriculum.
The program is a multi-age and multiple intelligence model following Gardner's "Theory of Multiple Intelligence". Children and adults learn from lecture and reading but in addition learn from a variety of learning styles or multiple intelligences through which our knowledge and understanding develop.
Howard Gardner uses the following seven intelligences to describe the way in which people receive, process, and retain information:
Linguistic/Verbal: The capacity to use words effectively, orally or writing. Logical/Mathematical: The capacity to use numbers effectively and to reason well. Spatial: The ability to perceive the visual - spatial world accurately and to perform transformations upon those perceptions. Bodily-Kinesthetic: The capacity to use one's whole body to express ideas and feelings and the facility to use one's hands to produce or transform things. Musical: The capacity to perceive, discriminate, transform, and express musical forms. Interpersonal/Relational: the ability to perceive and make distinctions in the moods, intentions, motivations, and feelings of other people. Intra-personal/Introspective: This is an exciting new program that focuses on one Bible story each month told in many different workshops including art, storytelling and cooking. This encourages kids to thoroughly understand each lesson while increasing retention.
